This is a gorgeous Fenton 9229 Empress footed compote from the 1960's. Originally made to serve mixed fruit or other desserts (compotes), you can certainly use it for its intended purpose or keep it on display. Stand back and admire it, or turn it over and over in your hands taking in every detail.

Made in a mold, the craftsmanship is so good, it's almost impossible to detect any seams. If you're like me, you'll find yourself spending a lot of time staring into its deep color and ornate ruffled design.
